Richard Gervais

Pastor

Since 2005, Richard has served in some level of a ministry capacity. He was on staff, traveling with an international evangelistic ministry for three years. He worked at People's City Mission (Lincoln, NE) in various positions over a four-year period, including being its first Chaplain. He helped plant a local church in Omaha and served as its Lead Pastor. Richard has traveled to various churches in Nebraska and other states as an itinerant minister and held weekend-long equipping workshops, which he still does periodically. Before stepping into his role as Lead Pastor at Destiny Church in the fall of 2021, he was the staff Pastor at Joshua Medical Center (Omaha, NE), where they offered prayer to all their patients.

Over the years, Rachelle has served in a variety of ministry roles. She has served as a children's ministry & youth group leader. She was an FCA leader in Wahoo Public Middle School. She served as a missions recruiter & team leader for a missionary organization and has gone to several nations overseas as a missionary. In addition to her role as children's ministry pastor at Destiny Church, she homeschools six of their eight children.

Rich & Shelly Vernon

Elders

Rich & Shelly Vernon moved to Wahoo in 1984 with their two daughters (at the time) and started a church called Cathedral of Praise (which later changed to Destiny Church). Rich started the Amusement Association (the carnival during the county fair) in 1984, putting together a wide selection of rides & games and building camaraderie among the community. He spearheaded it for eight years before handing it off.

Rich and Shelly have five children and thirteen grandchildren. They pastored in Wahoo for 37 years before passing the leadership of Destiny Church on to Richard Gervais in the fall of 2021.
